Melinda is an A level student in Cheltenham and had already completed her DofE Silver award and wanted progress towards her Gold award in the skills category, her chosen skill being photography.
When completing the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme students are committed to a learning programme of 20 hours. They must complete the programme and show that they have significant understanding in their chosen area.
Melinda was committed from our first session and was very attentive and learnt the basic photographic skills surprising quickly. I set weekly challenges and set goals.
We had a wonderful day trip to Westonbirt Arboretum where we put all of this skills into practice with the images she captured displayed here!
Whatever your level of achievement, make sure you include your Award on your CV and in uni and job applications. Employers are crying out for the skills you’ve gained through your DofE, including resilience, confidence, team working, communication and drive.
