Portrait photography, Croome Park, Worcestershire

On a beautiful spring day in April, I headed over to my local National Trust property, the lovely Croome Park, in Worcestershire.

A great place for some wonderful children’s portraits! With many gorgeous backdrops for images.

Today we also met up with an aspiring photographer, Phil who wanted to learn how to use his new Fujifilm X-T2 mirrorless camera, and get to grips with a new system and way of shooting! With our gorgeous model prepped and ready we were sure to capture some great images.

We started our lovely tour of the park and gardens at the ancient church that welcomes you into the park itself. From here on a clear day you get an incredible view of the majestic Malvern hills in the distance!

Then to the gorgeous light filled Rotunda at the top of the hill…I can only image how amazing this place would have been when it was originally built!

To the grandeur of the big house…

We were spoilt for choice with our lovely little lady Darcy and all of her dresses and hats! Which is great for a portrait photographer to be able to achieve a wide variety of images for a portfolio.

We had been promised thunderstorms and rain after the heat of the week, but thankfully we got lucky and only a few spots of rain interrupted an otherwise clear afternoon! Darcy was a true pro even in the wet, and we managed some wonderful portraits for her modelling portfolio and her family!

Our last great location was amongst the wonderful display of spring bluebells! What a treat!

I really do love shooting portraits on location, it gives me such scope to work with, and with Croome being so local to me, I really do feel blessed to have such a wonderful venue on my doorstep.

It always amazes me, that no matter how full that car park is, it always manages to retain the peaceful and natural feel of a private garden, and the staff are always so helpful and willing to impart their in depth knowledge of the property and gardens.
