On Sunday the 5th of March, I was invited to run my very first Children’s portraiture workshop, for the Royal Photographic Society, a real privilege for me, as this is an extremely prestigious photographic association.
The morning session was a brief insight into how I work, and my practices when taking beautiful images of children, we then took an in depth look at composition, posing, light and how they all come into play when capturing images on location.
We then were treated to a wonderful lunch, which set us up for an afternoon of shooting with our two wonderful models, Jayden and Tegan.
What brilliant little models they were too! At only 8 and 9, they were real professionals, and coped with the cold and windy weather brilliantly! And as a result all of the delegates were able to capture some wonderful children’s portraits, of their own!
After a couple of hours, the heavens opened and we headed back to the warmth of the studio, to review our shots and to experiment with various ways of processing.
Everybody thoroughly enjoyed the day, and the feedback was extremely positive!
“Hi Saraya, I was on the course yesterday in Amersham. Just wanted to say thanks for a great course – lots of energy, very engaging and good content. The models were great and the live shoot really helped understand how to get the best of the little light we had!” Nick.
“I attended the RPS Child Photography workshop yesterday. Thank you for imparting your pearls of wisdom!” Colin.
“It was great to do the course with you on Sunday and thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. It really was so inspiring.” Julie.
